Checkpoints

There will be 3 mandatory Checkpoints along the course to record and verify each participant’s passage through specific sections of the route.

Failure to register a cyclist’s passage through each Checkpoint will result in exclusion from the official classification. Consequently, the participant will not be considered for the overall classification, category classification, or eligibility for prizes.

Checkpoint’s Location:

Checkpoint 1: “Salida Jonte y AU Perito Moreno” (km 35 del circuito).

Checkpoint 2: “Puente Labruna y Av. Lugones” (km 65 del circuito).

Checkpoint 3: “Salida Jonte y AU Perito Moreno” (km 94 del circuito).

Aid Stations

There will be 2 Aid and Service Stations along the course, available to all participants and equipped with hydration, food, restrooms, and mechanical assistance.

At the stations, participants will find Aqualem water, BID hydration drinks, bananas, Granix cereals, and sweet and savory snacks. Mechanical assistance will be provided by Súper B.

Bottled water will not be provided. Cyclists will be able to refill their water bottles at the dispensers with the assistance of the event volunteers.

Frequently Asked Questions – 129K

What level of cycling ability do I need to complete the 129K?
You don't need to be a professional cyclist or have competitive experience to participate. However, the 129K requires adequate physical conditioning and the ability to ride long distances. Although the course has few elevation changes, you'll need to be able to maintain a minimum average speed of 25 km/h and meet the time requirements at the various checkpoints along the route.
What types of bicycles are allowed in the 129K race?
You can participate on a road bike or a gravel bike. MTBs, e-bikes, fixies, folding bikes, hybrid bikes, recumbent bikes, and bikes equipped with triathlon aerobars, time trial aerobars, or any other type of aerodynamic extensions are not permitted.
What is the minimum age to participate in the 129K?
To participate in the 129K race, you must be at least 17 years old on the day of the race. Participants under 18 years of age must submit an express authorization from their father, mother, or guardian, with the signature certified by a notary public, law enforcement official, or justice of the peace.
Is the 129K distance competitive?
Yes. The 129K race is competitive and features overall and category-specific standings. Prizes will be awarded to the top five cyclists—men and women—in the overall Road and Gravel standings, as well as to the top three in each age category for Road bikes. There will also be standings for Mixed Pairs and Road Teams.
What happens if I don't maintain the minimum pace during the race?
There will be checkpoints along the course with established time limits. To remain in the competition, you must pass through each one before the corresponding cutoff time. If you arrive after the established time, you must leave the course and follow the organizers’ instructions. You can board the sweep bus, which will take you to the finish area, or continue on your own outside the competition course.
Will the 129K circuit be closed to traffic?
Yes. The course will be completely closed to vehicular traffic during the race, allowing you to experience cycling along the main highways and avenues of Buenos Aires under conditions specially prepared for the race.
Are there aid stations along the 129K course?
Yes. Along the route, you'll find aid stations offering water and food, as well as medical and mechanical assistance. To ensure the safety of all participants, cyclists must come to a complete stop and have their feet on the ground when taking supplies.
Do I need a cycling license to participate in the 129K?
No. You don't need a federation license to participate in the Gran Fondo Argentina.
Do I need to submit a medical certificate?
Yes. To participate, you must have a medical certificate attesting to your physical fitness for cycling, signed by a licensed physician. The certificate must be uploaded to your runner account in advance and validated by the organization.
